Growing up Jewish in Newton, it’s not a surprise that I’ve been a lifelong Democrat, and I’m proud to say I volunteered for some terrific Democrats who are still serving today.

Thanks to unions, public education, the GI Bill, social security, college grants and a myriad of other successful government programs and ventures, I am a middle class American enjoying the fruits of our collective labor and the greatness of our country, and as a Democrat I am a part of a group of people who want to continuously move us forward to something even greater.

My dear wife, on the other hand, grew up in New Hampshire and South Carolina, and is still a Republican. While we respect each other’s insights and skills, we obviously have some stark disagreements on policy. But as James Carville says, “I’d much rather be married to someone who thinks passionately and differently than I do than someone who doesn’t think about things.”

At least she’s Jewish.

The Governor’s Council requires 1,000 signatures, from anywhere within the district–and no requirement that you get any beyond your own town/city.

I used the opportunity to get to know some wonderful people in each of the cities and towns in the 3rd Governor’s Council District. I personally collected over 1500 signatures, including some from every single one of the communities.
